Mercruiser 3.0 LX (1995)

I have a 1995 Bayliner with a 3.0 Mercrusier LX and in order to fit it in my garage I have to steer the drive all the way to the left. I then tied the steering wheel so it would not go back to the center. I wanted to know if this could damage something in the steering or if it would be ok.

hankster,Got power steering? It might not be healthy to keep the helm "hard over" the slave ram will be exposed to whatever, also the drive is best left in the down position to prevent the bellows from developing a "set" Just my opinion of course.

I am not sure if I have power steering. I just got this boat and I am new to boating. The trim is all the way down the only thing is I have to turn all the way to the left so it can fit in garage.
