I don't know if they're cored. You can normally see the balsa core pattern through the laminate though, lots of small squares with slightly different colors. If the bilge is painted it can be more difficult to tell, but normally there will areas that have no core and it will appear as if the laminate is suddenly an inch or so thinner.
