Hi Guys,

Hoping some of you pro's can shed some light for me.

Motor: 1990 Evinrude 90hp V4

Have been having water in lower unit problems.

Tried new o rings on the fill/level plugs, didnt solve fault.

Pulled lower unit off and tried pressure test. Test showed air escaping from area in exhaust cavity close water pump. Please see attached picture showing exact location.

Just wondering are there any seals in that area i should think about?

Or could it be possible frost has damaged unit over winter?

Thanks again in advance for any assistance

If the air was coming from where you had the 'X', that's not where the bearing carrier seals are. I would guess you have a crack in the LU. There are three seal locations, drive shaft, prop shaft and shift rod, plus O rings on the bearing carrier and the drain/fill gaskets. The easy way to be sure before any disassembly is to put the LU under water after pressurizing. There is no seal where you put the 'X'.
