Well I got her home last night, about 8 hours after I found it on clist.....since I have bought I logged around 4 hours on the Starcraft forum. You guys do a great job on here!! I thought I would do some photos last night and get info from the forum first but after a few beers I couldnt help but go at it. It has a 50hp Merc 500 on the back of her that starts and engages. From all paperwork and online info I have found this is a 1983 Starcraft SS 1500 ??...but I have not been able to find one like it on the site.

Any way have some work ahead of me...New steering cable, new floor, seats, leaning towards not replacing the foam. I picked her up for $550..what do you think?? any upfront advise would be great...glad I found the site....Enjoy your Sunday......... I know I will:)

Yah, you betcha. Looks to me like a total absolute rebuild, including everything. Par for the course my friend and you'll be happy you did it all, and did it right.

Welcome to the Starmada with the rest of us freeks:eek:. We will be with you all the way with your new project!!! That is a great all around boat and I think you stole it for $550. That 50 won't break any speed records but will move along around 35MPH I'll bet. I get about 33 with a tail wind with my 40. Here are a couple before and afters of my 83 16' SS.

Welcome to the Starcraft fleet:)

Looks like a 15' Starcraft Holiday that had the bow cut out. So you now have a 15' SS, the only one I've seen;)

The bow trim pieces are not factory, and it's more squared off than the SS bow. Looks like a great project since the boat is in pretty good shape. The tear down should be easy since the deck is already in pieces.:)

I think you are spot on Huron, my bro had a 16' ss and the hull was much deeper...Got it close to fully gutted today, had to of taken at least 200 lbs of water logged ply and foam out. I am going back and forth about replacing the floor foam..?? Engine runs great...can listen to that thing all day....I will update some photos and get a resto thread going when things progress...Tim

Welcome! Nice project you got there. Looks like they did a pretty nice job on the conversion. I'd put some foam in it. Noodles or pink/blue sheet foam won't absorb water. If the worst happens, you'd rather your boat did this http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w200/ezmobee/063Small.jpg as opposed to sinking like a stone to the bottom.
