Re: Electrical Diagrams for a 1979 Skeeter Wrangler 120
you really don't need a wiring diagram but if you do get one, you will probably see a pair of red and black (#8 or 10 gauge) wires running from the battery to the fuse panel at the helm. There is typically a fuse in the red wire close to the battery. Check it. That pair of wires feeds the fuse panel. Circuits branch out from there to the various switches. Since none of the accessories work, check for voltage at the fuse panel and work backwards to the battery. That main feed is the problem. The gauges are powered from the ignition switch ("A" or accessory terminal) when the key is on. If none of them work, then that says either +12v or ground is missing at the first gauge in the string. The ground. +12 volt, and internal light wires are daisy chained from the first gauge in the string to the others. Fix the first one and the rest will likely come to life. Knowing how to use a test light or voltmeter is essential for electrical work. I should add that since this is an older boat, it is highly possible multiple owners have mucked with the wiring so even the factory diagram may be of little help short or a total rewire. Even then, 1970's wiring concepts are drastically different than todays. Check the "Generic Boat Diagrams" in the stickies at the top of this forum.
