Just wanted to know if anyone had any idea about how fast my 84 115hp johnson should push my 84 glastron carlson cvx 16. I am thinking something is wrong with the motor because i can only get about 35 mph. But i have seen them with 90hp and do 45+.

On a 16' I would think 40+. Is your hull waterlogged by chance?

Your WOT RPMs will be crucial to know in troubleshooting this.

Im not sure if it is water logged are not but it was sitting in the rain for a little.. RPM was about 42

you need to weigh your boat, also a rough bottom can make a real difference. that is way to low RPMs something is not right...

4200 RPM shows:

1. A severely heavy boat.

2. Mis propped. Should turn at least 5500.

3. Sick engine, not running on all four. Compression test is in order-#1.

Ok i am going to get do the compression test do you know were about it should be.
