stuck in reverse

Hi i have a volvo penta 5.7 gs and its stuck in reverse. does anyone have any ideas what is wrong with it?

Probably a bad shift cable. Pull the plastic cover off the drive, disconnect the cable and shift the mechanism to see if it will change gears. Do this while running on muffs, but be safe and take the prop off.
