4.3 Rebuild Question

Hello All,

I'm rebuilding/restoring a 4.3 Merc that has sat for a couple of years. The motor ran well before freeze damage. It needs a new block so I'm starting the rebuild process, and I am determined to bring the boat back to 100% like she used to be. Anyway my question is; If you look at the pics is that a normal amount of rust to be in the cooling system or do you guys think i'll need to replace most of that too ? I was hoping to save everything and swap it to a new reman block.

I would re use it. I would take a good look at the manifolds and risers when I removed them, but the items in the photos look fine to me.

I think your title is misleading. You are not rebuilding or restoring anything, you are replacing the engine and reusing all the bolt on external parts (I think). What exactly froze? Is the block cracked? Personally I would not reuse the exaust manifold from a frozen engine.
