Ok I have a 1999 Johnson 225 high output motor on my bass boat. I just had a marina fix all 6 carburetors, and the boat runs great, but the bottom right carb leaks gas badly. It does not leak while the motor is off, but when I run the motor, and then tilt the motor up lots of gas drains out of the cover. I took it back to the marina, and had them look at the carb that is leaking. They did this right infront of me, and they found nothing wrong. They sprayed it out with an air compressor and put it back together. Everything on the carbs is working great. So I am trying to find out why gas is leaking out of the carb still? Does anyone have any idea on this? Like I said the boat runs great I just hate having this gas leaking. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks

I assume that with the carburetor face plate (cover) removed, the carburetor floods even when you pump up the fuel primer bulb. If so, the marina's mechanic should have easily corrected that problem.

A carburetor floods only if the float is not positioned properly, the float is faulty, the float needle valve is worn, or the air vent within the carburetor to the float chamber is blocked off. All of these conditions are easily corrected.

Thanks for the quick response. I am hoping its an easy fix. I was at a tournament today, and a guy told me its a problem with the fuel pump, but I replaced the fuel pump last summer so I could not see that being a problem. Yes, if you pump the fuel ball it the carb will leak. I am hoping to get some ideas from here to talk to the marina about. Once again thanks

It's definitely not the fuel pump..... tell the marina what I said.... the four (4) causes.
