i have a 1994 100hp johnson is there a way to test the stator and timing base to know if there bad. please help

Do a spark test with an in-line tester. Set the tester for about 7/16". You should get a strong blue spark if everything is working right.

i have the timing base off can i ckeck it with a ohm meter 4 resistance and what should it be. also what wires to check as there are 5

OEM shop manual and CDI Electronics website have static tests in detail.
