Filling Screw Holes

I'm reconfiguring my rear deck and have removed all seating, etc.

I now have about 25 screw holes that I need to fill. My plan:

1) Widen holes using step bit to smooth out and expose more fill area

2) Sand holes smooth

3) Clean with Acetone

Once I've got that done and the area is prepped.. then what?

I've read TONS of threads and still have no idea what to fill the holes with. So here's the question:

MarineTex or Vinylester? Which is easier and which is better?

Since I know there are TONS of you who have done this, anyone have any pictures you can share of before/after?

Help is appreciated!

Re: Filling Screw Holes

Welcome to Iboats :)

I suggest using poly resin ( vinyl is good to if you have it on hand ) some cabosil and some cut up fiberglass mat.

You could add a small amount of gel to tint the putty so its not so dark.

Just to let you know that whatever filler you use..eventually it will start to pop from shrinkage and water intrusion ..

You would need to encapsulate over it with gel for a long run repair.

Re: Filling Screw Holes

I used 5200 to fill any holes.
Don't know if it's any better but that's what i used.

Glassing it would be the best way to go.
