OMC Engine Identification

I have a 1982 Chris Craft 264 and am having trouble identifiying the engine model number.

The valve cover has OMC 260, but where the manual shows the
sticker ID tag is not there (rusted and gone)

I was able to locate the block number on the port side under the cylinder head

Block# VO712CHC
181337029
The Hull# is CCBAR154M82I

I was told the engine was replaced.

On another post the response was on welch plugs on the power head. I am not quite sure where these are located. Also the manual also claims that another number could be stamped on the port rear side where the engine attaches to the bell housing or a plate or sticker on the transom bracket.

Ayuh,... That would be true on an OMC Outboard,...
The valve cover has OMC 260
You have a 350 Chevy base motor, probably with a rochester 4bbl. carb...
So,..
What's yer Real question,..??

Re: OMC Engine Identification

Thanks for the response. When I go to purchase engine parts there are multiple 350's for that particular year.

I do have a 4 barrel carburetor. Are there different carburetors for different 350's or they all the same?

I am used to always having the original model# when buying parts.

Ayuh,... For Parts, you can Id the distibuter by itself for it's parts...

The Carb, should be as I stated, but you'll have to LOOK...

You already said the motor has been Swapped,...
So We can only suggest what Should be there...

Depending on the parts yer lookin' for, determines what part needs further IDing...
