My current Sea Ray passport warranty is about to expire. They offer a Sea Ray Legacy Warranty. Does anyone have experience with this and in their opinion is it worth the cost? Thanks

Re: Sea Ray Legacy Warranty

Usually the odds are against you coming out ahead--that's why they offer them. If you are one of the few that cashes in, you'll think it's great, but that's no different than the lottery winner recommending that others play the lottery because it worked out for him.

Also you want to understand the difference between a service contract and an extended warranty, and all the limitations and conditions. For example, you may have to take it to a Sea Ray dealer for all work, which might not work out for you.

Now, I have had the extended warranty/plan on a Yamaha motor and was glad I did, but that was on a boat shared with 6 other families that essentially gets "commercial use" as far as how much, and how hard, it is used.
