I took off the lower unit on my new (to me) boat today and noticed some barnacle like stuff in the mid-leg. What should I do about this stuff? Is it an issue?
Clean it up with a stiff brush and make sure you fresh water flush after each use.Run a bead of rtv on the edges before puting it back on.It will make it easier to take apart next time and slow any further corrosion.Charlie
That is not SW corrosion. It?s marine growth from being left in the water for an extended period of time. In freshwater probably some sort of a mussel.
Clean it up with a wire brush and put it back together.
