Does anyone know if I have to remove the power head to remove the midsection of this outboard? I want to get to the copper tube that brings water up from the lower unit because the end that goes into the water pump is damaged. Also, is there a replacement part for it or would I be able to find something at a plumbing supply store?

Thansk,
CB

Yes the powerhead needs to come off, but it's not that hard to do. The copper tube is a factory part that is bent to the correct shape and flared on the powerhead end to fit. I replaced one in my 225 Johnson 2 years ago.

Thanks. So you were able to order the part from a dealer? Did you rent an engine hoist to lift the head off?

I use a simple chain hoist. You can get one from Harbor Freight or Northern tool for less than $50.

I bought mine from Crowley Marine. They have good omline parts diagrams, and I've had good luck with them. I have an engine hoist. A hoist works best if you borrow or rent one.
