Alpha 1 Gen 1, water pump kit

Did I read somewhere that I am supposed to change out the lower plastic body of the water pump if I changing the impeller (kit)? The kit I have, has everything except that.
Do I remove the old one, clean up, replace gaskets, and reinstall?

No reason to replace the base unless it has melted or is damaged in some way.
