I'm replacing the gimbal and bellows on my 99 7.4 bravo. I acquired a service manual and read the pretty plain and simple instructions on removing the bearing but even with a 250 lb guy whaling on the slide hammer axle pulled I cannot get it to budge. Am I missing something? I can keep going at it but I thought I better ask before I cause some serious damage.

Put the slide hammer away! Go with a plate across the gimbal housing and a threaded rod attached to a bearing puller. Then just turn the nut and watch the magic happen. Check out the sticky at the top. Great info. I just pulled mine out this way yesterday. Goodluck!

Thanks. I'll give it a shot

Make sure you are pulling straight out, if you pull at an angle, you will never get it out.
