I am new to this forum and need some advice/opinions.

I am looking to buy a 2003 Cape Horn 21ft Off shore with a 225 Evinrude Ficht. I have been doing some research and have seen alot of mixed reviews about the Evinrude Ficht. Is this a good outboard / boat combo?

Have not seen the boat yet in person...driving 2 hours to go see it. What should I look for when I check it out?

I have heard that when you buy a used boat, the outboard motor is the most important part of the purchase.

Need some advice.

What year is the motor? The early years of the V-6 Ficht were problematic. If it is a 2003 motor, then it is OK, design-wise.
Everything depends on how well it has been maintained.

I think the OB is the most expensive part of the purchase,esp.if it needs some major repairs!!See "well maintained" above.Id have the motor checked by a pro of your choice for assurance.You are gonna run it/take it on the water/when you look at it arent you?
