Our '01 Volvo Penta 5.0 is carbureted. Does it have an ECM or do only injected models have one? I'm wanting to upgrade to a 5.7 so wanting to ensure this isn't an issue. Thanks!

No you do not have an ECM, that is only for EFI engines.
