I have a 1976 Mariner 20hp.Made by Yamaha; It's new to me,so maybe I'm wrong. When you crank it(pull-start)you have to have throddle almost wide open.It starts fine, but i was thinking it should crank at a much lower speed, maybe even idle?Could there be an adjustment needed,or does it sound like I need to have it tested by a pro.?thax for any help.dude11

I maybe would agree, but I already did that.Once cranked it idles, runs and operates as it should--it's just the idea of it being wide open at first pull.It has always required that to crank even before I re-did the carb.
