I have a 1985 18.5 Sunbird with 4.3 litre engine and a OMC outdrive.

Could anyone give me a rule of thumb on fuel consumption at 3800-4000 rpm?

Thanks
Greg

Re: Fuel Consumption

And some other rules of thumb:

Do not carry any unneeded weight
Keep the hull & lower unit clean
Keep the engine tuned

Cruise at the lowest possible speed where the boat is still on a clean plane. This is where the mpg is at it's best: WOT until it planes, then back off on the throttle as much as possible, while maintaining a stable plane.
