Another stuck Steering post!

I have a 1977 Wellcraft Nova 250. I'm bringing her back to life. It seems the Steering cable is stuck inside the aluminum tube at the engine end. When I loosen the end of the cable at the housing end, the Helm can be moved a few inches quite freely. I've tried several ways of soaking the end of the cable with various penetrating oils with no results. I'm wondering where I can get a replacement tube and then replace the whole cable and all! Or if there are any good suggestions to remove the tube.

Thanks

PB Blaster, A 2 Lb sledge, some patience, and some colorful language got the cable removed for me. I was afraid of being rough with it, as I had been warned that you could mushroom the end of the cable. After whacking at it with a rubber mallet with no results, I don't remember who it was that told me gentle was not gonna do. A couple of whacks with the sledge broke it loose. Once you get the cable out, clean the tube well with a wire brush.
