Upper driveshaft bearing issues on Alpha 1 Gen 2

Lost the lower unit last season and started triage. Driveshaft snapped just below water pump. I pulled the whole unit to check upper drive as well and the upper driveshaft bearing has pitting in the race. Should I just replace the bearing and race, or look for further "issues", or just replace the whole drive unit? The sickening part is there were only 80 hours on this drive.

Any idea why the drive shaft sheared? That would be the basis of a 'repair or replace' question for me...

the upper driveshaft bearing has pitting in the race.

Water causes rust, rust causes pitting.

or just replace the whole drive unit?
Ayuh,... I would...
An SEI drive is cheaper to buy new, than the usual repair costs of an Alpha drive...

I believe the shaft sheared from damage done after underwater strike. initially didn't look too bad from the prop. We got 2 more trips out of it, but the last trip involved an overly large wake and misjudgment on my part. got some air and 5 minutes later no go. As for the pitting I found no evidence of water... just plenty of fine metal.
