Ok I am not a boat person at all. I just bought a 1974 Cheetah that had a plywood floor on top of a fiberglass floor with plywood under it.(The fiberglass has a hole in it that how I know there was plywood under it) My question is can I just put new plywood over the fiberglass that is there or do I need to cut the fiberglass out and start all over? I want the boat to last atleast 5 years. It will mainly be used for fishing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, the proper way to fix it would be rip it all out and start again because of the added weight. You also need to inspect the stringers and transom for rot.
Good luck!

Take a stroll through the restoration section and read up on what's involved. My guess is you are underestimating the work. Good luck with it.

I will guarantee you've got stringer issues, and will almost guarantee you also have transom issues. I've been there and done that with 2 boats. Rip out the existing deck and evaluate what else needs to be done.
