Flushing the cooling system on a Optimax 135 150 & 175 using the Plug hose fitting on bottom of cowl.

Many of us have our boats over the water in slings and lifts were it is hard to Flush the out board engines.
you have seen many times how close boats are backed into a slip so the engine can be reached to flush them.

on the Optimax 135 150 175 the Small 3/4 inch Plastic plug on bottom of cowl is at a odd angle to begin with, let a lone trying to un-screw it and screw it in without dropping both the plug or the wrench in the drink.

I'm sure many have dropped the plug and or wrench and have to go for a swim.

By the way the plastic plug will sink like a rock.

I built a permanent adaptor that sticks out 4 inches from bottom of cowl so it's easier to get to and also I attached a cable to the Plug.

I've been known to tie a lanyard to my tool, I have dropped more than a few wrenches and screwdrivers.

Yes, they DO sink FAST!!!!

I keep the plug out all the time. I screw in a 6 inch garden hose adaptor and leave it in the engine . This makes it easy to flush .
