Floor Replacement

Howdy All,

I have just purchased a 19 foot sports hunter fibreglass boat with a few problems. The floor appears to be fibreglass over ply and the fg is matted to the hull. I need some information on how to seperate the floor from the hull.

Getting ahead of myself. I think the stringers need to be replaced. I have read that the stringers should not touch the hull. Is this the case? What is the best product to adhere the new stringers in place?

Finally, what a great web site.

Some pics would help to determine whether this is a boat where "popping the cap" will give you access to the rotted wood or whether you'll need to cut it out. Stringers are usually bedded in either PL Premium construction adhesive or "peanut butter" which is a thickened resin.

Re: Floor Replacement

Thanks for the advice. I picked the boat up yesterday and have not had a chance to take any photos. Will break the camera out today. Am excited about this little?? project. I restored a Hartley bondwood/fibreglass boat many, many years ago. Pics to follow.
