I have a pre 79 (76) johnson control box in like new condition and a set of new cables for a 91 Johnson V-4. Is there a kit to adapt the cables so they will fit the older model control box?

The only real difference between the new and old cables is that the old cables have removeable ends and the new ones have permanently attached ends. I am pretty sure the new cables will fit your old box if it is a single lever style box (the one with the pleather cap on top). They will not work if it is an old dual-handle box (separate throttle and shift) as those had specialized cable ends at the box.
