What year is my outboard motor ??

Just bought neighbors small boat. Came with a 9.5 horse evinrude, Sportwin. Model no is, 9222 M, serial no. is, J 04218. Would like to know the year and also, how do ya tilt the motor up, sounds silly, just can't figure it out. Thanks and this is a great site. Been a lurker here for years. Thanks in advance, Mike

'72. I think there's a lever on the port side transom bracket. If that's not working, I think you can stick a screwdriver behind the transom clamp and deflect the cable that pulls the locking hasp out, and tilt it up to investigate. Good luck!
