oil fuel mixture

I am new to boating and just took delivery of my boat with a 90hp Merc DFI Optimax engine. I need to add oil when I refuel so I am just trying to confirm that all I need to do is fill the oil reservoir and that the injector will automatically mix the proper amount of fuel and oil. Can someone confirm for me? THX.

I would confirm with the engine operating manual, but if you add oil to the reservoir, it automatically mixes the oil with the fuel. Again, you should not take my word for it, confirm with the engines operating manual.

Optimax is a direct injection motor. Oil is not mixed with the gasoline, but is injected into the crankcase where it mixes with air only. Owners manual will tell you what kind of oil to use and how to fill resevoir. Some Mercs have a remote oil tank in the boat. Last I heard the 90s didn't have that except as option.
