I am rebuilding my '66 Johnson 80HP with electric shift (long shaft), and want to service the impeller. I removed the bolts holding the bottom section to the extension but the bottom section will not come off for anything. It feels like the shaft spline is not coming free, is there anything else it could be?
There is no shift linkage (electric). The shift wiring has been disconnected. It separates .125" or so and that is it.
Does the extension have to be removed first and then separated from the bottom section?
If it is a stuck spline, any suggestions?
