Am replacing some bad gaskets on an 88 model Merc 5.7, Exhaust/riser gaskets, Closed cooled, Inboard, (block off) gaskets.
The ones I (ordered, either by mistake or not) are the regular green ones, not the silver, graphite looking ones or metal piece sandwiched in between two gaskets?
Doesn't seem to me like they are the right ones for the "block-off" results, as the green gasket material will eventually soak thru the water passages and fail.
Did I order the wrong ones?

Definitly get the right ones from Mercruiser, I had the wrong ones at 1 time at the exact thing you described happened........they soaked through and broke down. Not a good thing!!
