1992 Evinrude 25hp drop lower end for water pump question

reading quite alot and my buddy needs a water pump repair and when we
drop lower end do I need to drain the oil out or any fluid to do this job ?

I retired from Army 30 years now they think I have alot of spare time now lol.......

Yes, you can change the water pump w/o draining the lower unit.
