hydro or elecric shift question

I have a 72 3 cyl with a reverse problem . I have 2 lower units and both are bad. does it can a forward part fix a reverse part? can I combine these two?

CFN, I'm having an electric shifting problem myself. I would recommend that you clarify your question.
