nahh looks good. Just make sure you don't let the prop cut through the sides like I did :) LOL. Also, don;t worry if you see a bit of black oil on the waters surface that's normal and won't be nearly as prevalent on the open water.

I use a plastic barrel cut to 23", and set a cheap motor stand in front of it to hang motors on. Works for anything short shaft up to 25hp, and long shafts kinda sit in the bottom, but works for testing. Yours looks good for small motors, just use a stand for larger ones, and spin your 'transom board' out of the way.

Thanks for the info-never thought about the prop cutting into the plastic barrel sides, you bring up a very serious problem if i don't watch what i doing real close; thank you i'll be sure to watch that. This is the reason i put post on almost every thing i'm doing getting this boat-motor-trailer cleaned up and ready for fishing. being a NEWBEE & all, i need help. thanks again ---later

I saw one similiar that had the top cut out enough so that it would fit around the motor after the motor was hung on the transom plate....looked like it'd go a long way towards keeping the water in the "tank"

Just clamp your motor down good and keep it straight forward and you won't have an issue.

:)Steve A W it looks we were barking up the same tree. your barrel looks like a cousin to mine HA HA - looks like it works just fine- it looks like your into the old style OB's. Hey i found an old minn-kota electric troling motor at a friends house, it looks like a huge electric motor stuck on the top end of a curved pipe with a prop on the end of. I'm going to play with it after i get my 74 lund finished. good talking with ya, later - here's some pics of that old electric motor-

Make sure your motor descends into the water deeply enough to insure that the water pump is fully submerged. While this is a concern with lots of motors, OMC 6hp motors seem to be particularly susceptible to water starvation, if this is not adhered to.

Re: Evinrude 6 hp test tank

Steve A W It's kind of neat seeing those old trolling motors, but they sure are heavy! Got back from a weekend trip to georgia, got new gas for the 6 hp evinrude - put it in the barrell after checking everything i could and cranked it up - about 5 or 6 pulls - it runs real smooth, plenty of water coming out the rear hole here's some pics of it running. later :)
