Ok so I went out today to check the condition of my bilge pump because its getting warm here in New Mexico almost time to hit the water. I have a Johnson 500gpm pump model 28552. Turned it on and nothing happened I know that they just pop out to put a new one in. But do I cut the wires and splice the new one? And is there any other items I need to do or check before I change the pump cartridge. I am not sure on this but how long do they last for?.. Thanks for your help:eek:

Ya, just cut the wires and splice the new one in, there is a tab you have to lift to get that out, they don't just turn out without lifting that.

Check the housing with the pump out for debris, that is usually what kills them, they get a peice of something in them an the motor can't turn and they burn up.
