I HAD MY 454 GM 7.4L ENGINE REBUILT LAST WEEK,THE ENGINE STARTS FINE AND IDLES GOOD BUT I NEED TO SET THE TIMING.MY QUESTION IS WHEN NUMBER NO THE ENGINE CRANK AM I LOOKING FOR IS IT [ 0 ]thanks

It depends on what year and ign. system you have.Normally its 8 deg.but there are different timing procedures used.What do you have?Year?fuel system?Grade of fuel used?

the year of the engine is 1984. original fuel pump ,4 barrel holley,ebelbrock proforma 2-0,mercruiser thunderbolt iv breakerless timing high enegoy ignition.I dont know if this will help i had roller lifters installed. thank,s for the help.

hello <br />it should set 8-10 degrees before TDCno special tricks on it.<br /> good luck and follow your service manual

The timing for that big block is 8 degrees BTDC @ 700 RPM
