Rencently bought a 14feet, 4meter alliminium quintrex 400 dart (1980 version)
the beam is only1.5m and transom is about 1.4 m, obviously a old narrow design.
when on the water, its bit scarey especially when bit windy or big ship cruse pass.
So i m thinking can i raise the hull to enlarge the boat and extend the rear of the boat to achieve around 6m long and 2.4meter wide. so it can be more stable and more space.

i m a car mechanic and i do alliminium welding as well. just woundering if there is any thread showing any infor about it. like how exactly it can be done.
been searching on line but found nothing.

thanks alot if any one can help

Re: Hull lift/ go oversize

I don't see any practical reason to inlarge the boat. There are so many issues involved I don't know where to start.Stiffness for to aft and crosswise. Using the correct metal you don't just use aluminum must be a certain grade. Then there is the difficulty welding long seams succesfully.
Maintaning hull shape to have a proper performing hull.It could only take a fraction to ruin a boats handling.I think you should look for a boat closer to the size you need.
That 35 could be setup as a tiller control on a 16 or 18ft bare bones utility and it would seem like a cruise ship compared to your boat.An 18 ft would likely plane easily with 6 average size adults aboard.Probably run close to 35 lightly loaded.
