I'm upgrading my 1991 Force 70hp motor from the stock 9A stator to the newer 16A stator. (Had to...old stator died, so saw this as an opportunity.)
Found a new Mercury red stator upgrade kit on ebay for $78, well below the retail price....comes with stator and adapter module. But I need to buy a voltage regulator to replace the rectifier as the old rectifier won't handle the new stator's output.
So.....looking on iboats, notice something called the MES 1784M voltage regulator and it's got a much lower price than the brands I know like Mercury, CDI, Sierra, Mallory.
So who is MES? Decent brand? Would you own that brand or buy the more expensive alternatives from CDI, Mallory, Mercury, etc.?
