Johnson 4.5 won't shut down!

I am hoping someone can help me figure this out. As stated, I have a 1983 Johnson 4.3 hp that seems to run pretty well, however, when I twist the throttle twist grip all the way to the "stop" position, it continues to run at an idle speed (pretty well, I might add). I am grateful it idles smoothly, but does "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" apply?!?!?

Sounds like you need to do a linc and sync. In the mean time, you should be able to pull the choke to shut it down. Best of luck. Rick.

in this model stop button is located on the end of twist grip.its in the midle of idle set up button

Stop button? Well I didn't realize it had that. I would guess then it should continue to idle until you hit the stop button. Sorry for the misdirection. Rick.

:facepalm: You're right! I am so embarrassed!!! I have an excuse, though. I just bought the motor and it didn't come with the manual. I looked and found the stop button at the end of the twist grip!
