Make sure your following the proper cold startup procedures. Did you put any type fuel stabilizer in it? Check the water seperator, you may need to replace it
the 10% ethanol fuel begins to seperate after 3 weeks to 3 months..use a good marine fuel fuel stabilizer for ethanol fuel. or drain old fuel. also drain carbs before sitting up.
The fuel stabilizer and the CORRECT start up procedures are probably your best bet. Ever read your owners manual ? Lots of good info in it. Another thing that has happened to those vro mtrs is when they sit oil will bleed into the carbs. If you pull the carb bowl drains and flush out with fresh fuel it will sometimes help.
I have read the manual and I use star tron stabilizer and have NEVER put gas with ethonal in it. I crank and crank and crank, when its does hit it runs like a champ. it just takes forever to get it started.
Thanks for all the comments. I replaced the bulb and fuel line even though they looked ok, Tightend every hose clamp I could find and guess what. This motor runs better than it ever has,cranked right up.
You may be on to something. If air some how got in the fuel lines the VRO will pump more oil causing your mtr to smoke on first start up. Anyway, glad it's working and keep us posted.
