Can't figure out where this wire came from or where it goes.

Hey,
I have a 1996 25HP Evinrude Model Number: E25EEDM. I'm trying to get running again and i ran into some issues on this one wire that i think may hook up to the rectifier. I have some pictures below of the wire and also was wondering what the other two pictures were. I know one of them has to do with the fuel line and the other i have no idea. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I got the parts just don't know where the wire suppose to hook up at. I believe it goes on the wire terminal in front of the rectifier just don't have a wire diagram for it.

The purple and white is for the fuel primer. The other connector is unknown to me. Is your OMS disabled? In other words, do you mix oil with your fuel? If you do, that three wire connector could be a part of that system. Did you disconnect the wires or were they just flopping around in the engine compartment?

Sorry for the enormous pictures but in front of the rectifier i'm pretty sure that all the lines are color coded so i matched them up with each other and found this gray (or green) one down beside it. Also would the rectifier cause it not to crank? From the wire color codes from maxrules.com it says it goes to the tachometer signal. So i suppose just leave it alone. Thanks for all the advice.

How anyone can see a purple and white wire in there is beyond my tired old eyes.

However Jake. here is a colour code for the Evinrude wires:

ughh never mind. its not the fuel primer. Take those nice clear pics next time guy. it kind of looked like a dirty purple in the small pic...

Jake;

Is your engine set up for tiller steering or do you have a steering wheel and shift control box?
If you have a steering wheel and shift control box you can do a continuity check from the gray wire you are holding to one of the three pins at the tach plug on the control box. This will verify that it is the tach wire and it does get it's signal from the rectifier.
If you don't have a tachometer, it matters less whether you hook the wire up to the rectifier or not but if it were mine, I would connect it to keep things standard.

As for your previous question "Would the rectifier prevent the engine from cranking?" No, normally in a correctly wired system, the recitifer is there to provide charging capability for your battery by changing AC voltage to DC to send to the battery and a tach signal.
