can i do this ? i have an early 90's dual pro xl onboard charger. the unit has 2 independent banks. 5 amps per. Im upgrading to a 24 v trolling motor. can the two batteries, wired parallel, be charged safely without disconnecting the jumper between batt 1+ and batt 2- posts, having leads of each bank connected to these batteries individually ?

One little problem. Your batteries need to be wired in SERIES to get 24 volts -- not PARALLEL. But yes, you wire one set of outputs to each battery. Because the charger has totally isolated grounds you don't need to break the jumper between the two batteries.
