thermostat?

I have a 1990 40hp it stoped pissing.I have put a new water pump in,still no luck.Is there a thermostat,if so where is it located?

Yes it has a thermostat. No it won't affect the tell-tale operation. If you installed a new impeller, did you get the drive key properly installed and did you make sure the water tube connected properly inside the upper housing? Is the tell tale hose plugged (string trimmer line works great for clearing debris). Did you isntall the correct impeller?

Silvertip, you sure they had a thermostat? I had a 1992 4cyl 40hp and it did not have one.

As suggested, I would check that the telltale is not plugged. I have found twice that mud dauber wasps had plugged up the outlet. Not sure how they find that small hole but it seems like an ideal place for them to lay eggs and seal it up.

I thought I was in the JohnnyRude forum. Not sure the 4 cyl Merc 40s had a thermostat. Sorry -- but it doesn't change anything. Even if it had a stat it would still show a tell tale stream.
