I'm trying to put my new outdrive on, the boats in full forward as well as the out drive, but when i put it on the outdrive it pops out of gear, when i move the shifter, forward becomes netrual, Netrual stays netrual, and reverse becomes forward please help id like to put it in the river tomorrow by the way is a 87 3.0 mercruiser mated with a 87 alpha 1 outdrive. please help:confused::confused:

try putting a bungee on the prop. load it up ccw to keep it in gear. any motion of the prop cw and they will come out of gear during install.
