Should this motor (Year 2000 Mariner 200HP V6) have an airbox fitted to the carbs?

What is know about this motor type - I'm aware it's a carb 2.5 but nowt more really. Is it much different to my older 81 vintage V6 150 Merc?

Should I bin the Oil Injection or is it more reliable on these newer units? - If so how is this done (short of adding oil to fuel - I assume I need to block off something?)

Thanks!

Yes it should have airbox and pretty much the same as your old motor other than the bigger cubes and higher alternator output. The oil gear is better than the 81 model..
