cracked lower unit

have a cracked lower unit near the exhaust on a 1999 suzuki 225 dts.should i have it welded? In fact, it is cracked on both sides.

A photo would help, depends on location and size of crack, maybe can be welded, or maybe shop for replacement lower unit. If crack is in a bearing or seal area may make it difficult to do. Can you send photo?
