oil leaking from water intake??

What would be the likely cause of a small amount of oil leaking out the water intake on a lower unit. This is a 2007 50 hp 2 stroke yamaha.

What kind of oil?
if it is lower unit oil then I would be looking at the seals on the drive shaft below the water pump.
If it is 2 stroke oil the it could be unburnt fuel/oil mix from too much fuel in a cylinder from bad fuel pump dumping it into the crank case or motor not firing on all plugs because of an spark problem
