1999 Mercury 200 Controls Compatible with a1982 Mercury 115?

Hi all,

I just bought a 1982 Mercury 115 with no controls. I found controls on craigslist that was on a 1999 Mercury 200. Are most of the controls generally compatible? Do you think they will work with minor modifications? If not, do you guys know of a good online Mercury parts outlet or a good aftermarket place? I have limited funds so after market would be just fine... I just want to get this thing in the water and start fishing! Also... any ideas on how to hook up the motor to the instrument gauge (Mako 17) Thanks for all your help!

The mechanical parts of the controls should work OK. The electrical may not hook up w/o modification. I ended up grafting the wiring harness from my '93 Merc to the control box from my '77 Merc.

Get a wiring diaghram for each motor and create a cross wiring table, ie connect orange wire to black/yellow wire; red to red, blaack to black....
