fuel problems on a 1985 90 hp in-line six

i rebuilt carbs and adjusted the carbs 1 1/2 turns out .i put the boat in the lake run fine .turn engine off gas drips out of carbs and hard to start also prime bulb is soft.pump prime bulb back up to get engine to start.i did notice on the old needles in float bowl had rubber tips and new ones don't.does this matter.i did not rebuild the fuel pump could this be the problem

You test the carbs before you reinstalled them?Sometime U have to reuse the old needles.They just don't seal right.
You should rebuild the pump any time you do any carb work.Replace the squeezie too.It has a check valve in it that can go bad.It sounds like the needles are not sealing or the diaphram has a hole.J

Depending on the supplier of the carb kits, there are TWO types of needles, with, and withOUT the viton tips.

Those withOUT the viton tips come with a red rubbery doughnut shaped O-ring that MUST be installed into the seat to provide a sealing surface for the metal needle.

If you did NOT notice this difference your carbs are flooding/leaking fuel, the primer bulb will go soft as the fuel pressure cannoto remain.
