Hello everyone. As you can see I am brand new to you web forum, and come in search of info. I recently purchased a 1961 Johnson 5.5 sea-horse. (cd-18). I found this gem at a local garage sale for the low price of 50.00, of which I payed 30.00. She is however missing her prop, what appears to be an instrument panel on the front of the cowl, and the associated knobs for these controls. I may also be interested in a lower unit swap. I would greatly appreciate any links or site adresses where these older parts may be found. I have briefly searched online and wasn't finding what I needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.:)

Hello, yobytram. The insterment panel you are reffering to is the starting instructions and high/low speed settings. Are the instructions and knobs missing from the front? www.marineengine.com and here at iboats have some parts. As far as that front panel goes you will probably need to find a donor motor to replace. Ebay/CL. b

Try an ad on the "Free Clasifieds" at the Antique Outboard Motor Collectors club web site.

http://www.aomci.org/index.htm

There's a good chance someone there will have what You need.
Sounds like a good project at a good price.
Good Luck

Yes, Iboats can help you with most parts if you need to do a carb job, seal kit replacement. tune up, etc. Props for old motors are expensive to find new and usually you will find 2-3 used ones on Ebay. I have the same basic motor but it is an Evinrude 5.5 (61) and I search there often. The cosmetic parts are different but internals are the same. Might search Ebay for "evinrude 5.5, 7.5, and johnson 5.5 and 7.5 as that cover pc might be a little more difficult to find and I am thinking the 7.5 is the same. The lower units are easy to find.....but you may have to re seal them. Get yourself a parts manual and a service manual when you can. The parts manual can usually be found online for free as some marine sites show the parts books for parts reference.
